On May 23, 1995, Eastwest/EEG released the major label debut album from Moonpools & Caterpillars. This Glendale, California four piece gives us Lucky Dumpling as their first offering. Lucky Dumpling was produced by Richard Gottehrer (Blondie, Go-Go's, Judybats, Jeffrey Gaines) and Jeffrey Lesser (Lou Reed, Barbara Streisand) at Bearsville Studios.
Moonpools & Caterpillars lived in Los Angeles and played many a night at the Whiskey-A-Gogo. Lead singer Kimi Ward Encarnacion is known for being a whirling energy blast on stage. Jay Jay Encarnacion gives Moonpools & Caterpillars their distinct guitar sounds, which vary from ethereal chorusing to large, wall of sound distortion. Bassist Tim DePala and drummer Gugut Salgado finish up the line-up as the rhythm section.
